As a church, our two main goals are to love God and love people. We put this vision into action by serving the members of our church and the people of our community through various ongoing efforts. If you would like to know more about any of these ministries, please contact the church office.
At FBC Decherd, we believe that one of our greatest ministries is to show children the love of God. We agree with Psalm 78:4 that says, “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders.” We are passionate about reaching boys and girls for Jesus, and ministering the love of God to them. In addition to Sunday School and Discipleship Training, children are invited to participate in Bible Drills every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (Sept. - May). There are also several fun activities for children throughout the year.
Our student ministry (6th-12th grade) is designed to reach the next generation of young people for Jesus and to help them develop a Biblical worldview that they may be equipped for facing the many challenges in this world. The student ministry at FBC Decherd is called The GAP. The GAP meets every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Each year students engage in a doctrinal study, character study, and a social study. In addition to Sunday School, there is also a Discipleship Training class for students on Sunday evenings at 5:00. Discipleship Training is designed for those who wish to go deeper in their walk with God and be trained for ministry. The student ministry at FBC also includes a puppet team that ministers to the community and the church.
Our college and single adults meet together for Bible Study and fellowship on Sunday mornings for Sunday School and at various times to encourage one another and to grow in Christ.
Our Senior Adult group is one of the most active components of FBC, Decherd. This group is not content to just sit on the front porch and rock; they are growing old gracefully...and having fun at the same time! Reaching out to others through fun activities such as banquets, picnics, day-trips, guest speakers and entertainment, and Bible Studies is what this group loves to do.
Sunday School is held at 9:45 on Sunday mornings. This time is rich with fellowship, excellent teaching, and friendly people who want to grow in Christ together. There is a class for every age!
These Bible Study/ Discipleship courses are for those who desire a deeper walk with God and for those who desire to be equipped for ministry. Classes are available for children, youth, and adults. Discipleship Training is held every Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
This ministry is designed to encourage and equip women in our church to passionately follow Christ, love their families, and share Christ's love with the world. The L.I.G.H.T group (Ladies in God's Heavenly Training) meets once a month for mission projects, Bible studies, and fellowship. This is a very important ministry of our church.
This is a ministry designed to encourage men to become strong husbands and fathers and to stand up for Jesus Christ wherever they are. Men grow through friendships with other men, and through service ministry projects where they are making a difference in the world. We have a once a month men's breakfast on the second Saturday of the month.
Worship is crucial for any church, and our worship is enthusiastic and inspirational. Our choir leads the way in worship, and our congregation worships with emotion and passion.
At FBC Decherd, we believe prayer is the key that opens the door to God's blessings. During the Sunday morning service we have individuals who meet in the prayer room to pray while the worship service is taking place. Our entire congregation is also engaged in praying for others. If you have a specific prayer need, please call our church office.
At Decherd FBC, we believe in using the tools of our day to communicate the love of Jesus to others. In addition to our church website, you may also find us on facebook. All worship services are recorded and a copy of those services are available upon request. You may also listen to sermons preached from the pulpit of FBC online. We are also working toward streaming our services live in the future. Please check back soon for more info!
